Our Impact
With the unwavering support of our community, Shiba Sequoia Forest has achieved remarkable milestones, driving meaningful change over the years. Discover our accomplishments and the positive impact we've made:
- Planted over 1,400 Sequoia trees in and around Muskegon, Michigan, enhancing our urban forest.
- Donated to local animal shelters to support their vital work.
- Raised funds to stock the "Fishes and Loaves" food pantry more than six times.
- Baked and donated hundreds of loaves of bread for the community.
- Distributed 80 "Blessing Bags" to displaced individuals in Muskegon, containing essential winter clothing, food, and emergency supplies.
- Organized or volunteered in numerous community cleanup efforts.
- Hosted dozens of global artists at ShibaFest, showcasing Muskegon's unique charm.
- Created countless, often life-changing memories for hundreds of families.

Dune Harbor Park
Dune Harbor Park is Muskegon County’s newest and largest park, spanning 377 acres of forests, dunes, wetlands, and two inland lakes ideal for kayaking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Miles of trails connect the North Lake and South Lake areas, including a sandy path leading to 1,660 feet of Lake Michigan beach.
Located in Norton Shores, the park is easily reached from Roosevelt Park, Muskegon Heights, and the City of Muskegon. Its ongoing development is supported by the Michigan DNR Trust Fund, the Land Conservancy of West Michigan, Muskegon County Parks, and the former landowner.
Lads Reforestation Project received a $2,000 grant from the Muskegon Community Foundation to support reforesting efforts at Dune Harbor Park. Through ongoing fundraising, we aim to raise an additional $2,000 to help fund long‑term tree care, recognize volunteers, and support future project needs.

Where Music Meets Tree Preservation
Dozens of artists from around the world have joined us to play music with the trees, plant an endangered sequoia before they leave, and name it. We take cuttings from these trees and add them to our nursery, hoping to one day offer legacy trees for festivalgoers, investors, and the community to select their favorite musician’s tree and add it to their personal collection.
